Griffin Castle is the home of my gaming maps for miniatures.
Recent Maps for Miniatures
The Griffin Castle Griffin Castle is a large castle at the top of a plateau. There is walled town at the base of the plateau. Fortifications connect the castle with town and the main path to the castle runs through the town. The town has a lot of the essential shops that adventurers might need to gear for an expedition, including Mickel the Mad's potion shop.
The Dragon Ship The Dragon Ship was built in the likeness and dimensions of a viking drakkar that sank to the bottom of some icy sea and remained well-preserved until it's discovery in the 20th century. I've forgotten what source I used for the dimensions, but I attempted to make it historically acurate to some degree at any rate. I first tested it on a D&D treasure hunt that ended up on an island with a castle plagued by a vampire.
Greek Trireme Like the Dragon Ship, this Greek trireme was built to historical dimensions. Unfortunately, minis no longer conform to the original scale of 1 inch to 5 feet so this trireme plays somewhat smaller than a real trireme would have. But, in fantasy wargaming, who cares?
The Siege Weapons A few weeks ago I assembled 8 kids and a few hundred D&D minis from WOTC and attempted an assault on Griffin Castle. Of course, the orc hordes needed a way into the city other than the front gate (though that was eventually battered to rubble as well). These siege towers towers eventually allowed the horde to breach the wall, but not before a great many of them had spilled there guts at the castle's base.
An Ogre's Cave: A small cave with a large monster. Can be inserted along any highway or road system that needs menacing.
Dwarf Wizard's Caves: These caves were hollowed out of the mountain by amighty dwarf wizard. But like all dwarves, he dug too deep. The cave is now owned by a horde of kobolds who have no idea what the dwarves awakened in the lower passages. This map connects conveniently with the Ogre's Cave.
